Who's Who in Black Birmingham

Who's Who in Black Birmingham is an annual publication highlighting African-American business, religious, and community leaders in the Birmingham area. The first edition came out in 2006 and was not immediately followed. Yolanda Richards, coordinator of the Atlanta edition, relaunched the book as an annual series in 2008.

The book's publishers, Who's Who Publications of Columbus, Ohio, produces similar books for 22 other cities. C. Sunny Martin, who heads the publishing company, also contributed photographs to the book.

2006 edition

Who's Who in Black Birmingham: The 2006 Edition was coordinated locally by Rose Walker and profiled 230 individuals. The publication featured a forward by Odessa Woolfolk, a special tribute to former Miles College president John Sloan II by DeAquanita Lee, and several feature profiles penned by Malena Cunningham.

2008 edition

The 2008 edition debuted at an event at the Birmingham Museum of Art on August 7, 2008. The book, coordinated by Yolanda Richards, profiles 250 leaders of the black community. Special features included a salute to living legends and one highlighting 25 young leaders. Birmingham mayor Larry Langford contributed the forward. Fred McCallum, president of AT&T Inc. of Alabama, was the subject of a special tribute.
