'''Ronald Steven Crumpton''' (born [[April 6]], [[1968]] in [[Alabaster]]) is executive director of the [[Alabama Patients' Rights Coalition]] and [[Alabama Safe Access Project]].

Crumpton graduated from [[Pelham High School]] and began working as a technician at [[Vestavia Bowl]] and as a landscaper and sprinkler installer in the summers. Unable to continue laboring due to a disabling back injury, he returned to school and earned an associate's degree in political science and journalism at [[Jefferson State Junior College]] and a bachelor's in American government and political theory at [[UAB]].

Crumpton began serving as a political advocate on behalf of patients' rights during college. He worked as a legislative liaison for [[Alabama Compassionate Care]] and headed the [[Alabama Medical Marijuana Coalition]] before taking his current positions.

Crumpton ran unsuccessfully in the [[2014 general election]] against retired optometrist and former state representative [[Jim McLendon]] to succeed [[Jerry Fielding]] in [[Alabama Senate District 11]]. In the [[2016 general election]] Crumpton ran as a Democrat against incumbent U.S. Senator [[Richard Shelby]]. He was defeated by a margin of 64% to 36%.
