Shades Valley Lutheran Church

Shades Valley Lutheran Church is a congregation in the Southeastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America located at 720 Shades Creek Parkway in Homewood. It was founded in 1951 by members of Christ Lutheran Church to establish a Lutheran congregation in Birmingham’s southern suburbs. It was initially located at in the former Canterbury Methodist Church building on the east side of Union Hill Cemetery at 294 Hollywood Boulevard. Its current sanctuary building was erected in 1963, its original education buildings have open-air corridors.

Shades Valley has sponsored and hosted meetings for Cub Scout Pack 95 since at least the 1980s.

In 2020, the church arranged to lease a portion of its undeveloped land at 740 Shades Creek Parkway to developers of a corporate office.
