The Alabama State Missionary Baptist Convention is the state-wide organization of African American Baptist Churches. On the national level it is the affiliated with The National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. Its offices are in Selma, Alabama. Organized in 1868 at a meeting in Montgomery, it was initially known as the Alabama Colored Baptist State Convention. It founded Selma University in 1878.
Member churches are also members of smaller geographical units known as district associations. Those in the Birmingham area include:
