WSPZ-AM "The Sports Animal" AM 690 debuted on January 8, 2007 as a reshuffling of programming after the former WJOX-AM took over the FM 100.5 slot from WRAX, another Citadel Communications property. Between November 2006 and January 2007 the FM station was a simulcast of WJOX-AM, before it took over the call-letters and nickname as Citadel's premiere sports talk station.
