WSPZ-AM ("609 The Fan") is a sports-talk format radio station owned by Cumulus Media.

The station debuted as "The Sports Animal" at AM 690 on January 8, 2007. It was a result of a major reshuffling of programming for stations owned by Citadel Commafter the former WJOX-AM took over the FM 100.5 slot from WRAX, another Citadel Communications property. Between November 2006 and January 2007 the FM station was a simulcast of WJOX-AM, before it took over the call-letters and nickname as Citadel's premiere sports talk station.

Matt Coulter and Scott Griffin co-hosted a morning show, later solely hosted by Griffin with regular visits from Birmingham News columnists Ray Melick and Kevin Scarbinsky and Fox 6 reporter Mike Dubberly. That show was replaced by syndicated programming in July 2008.
