The Southern League of Professional Baseball, is a AA professional baseball league founded in 1885 encompassing ten teams across the Southeast. Now headquartered in Marietta, GA, its offices were located along Main Street in downtown Trussville from 1979 through 1994. The offices were moved after then league president and Trussville resident Jimmy Bragan retired. Without his personal stake in the community, the league moved its offices to a more central location for all of the league's teams. The Birmingham Barons currently are members of the Southern League.
