Cahaba shiner

The Cahaba shiner (Notropis cahabae) is an endangered species of fish native to the Cahaba River and Locust Fork. It is presently confined to a shrinking range of these rivers stretching about 15 miles. The 2.5 inch long silvery fish spawns in late spring and early summer and lives for approximately one year.
