The Fountys
The Fountys: An Award Show Honoring the Heroes of Art History was a parody awards show produced by Max Rykov as a benefit for Space One Eleven. Inspired by Marcel Duchamp's infamous 1917 masterpiece, Fountain (the urinal), this award show featured local art fans costumed as famous artists to present the awards. Artists and artworks represented include Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo, Georgia O'Keeffe, Pablo Picasso, Leonardo da Vinci, The Mona Lisa and more. Awards were presented to historical works of art in categories such as "Most Confusing to the General Public", "Most Whimsical Representation of the Human Body", "Most Posthumous Success", and even, "Best Picture". The awards themselves, the Fountys, were gold ceramic urinals created by artist Katie Elkins. It took place on December 12, 2014 at Bottletree Cafe.
