Alabama Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is an organization of Baptist churches formed in 1993 with offices at 3421 Sierra Drive in Hoover. As a national organization the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship was formed in 1991 by moderate Southern Baptists who did not support the conservative resurgence that had taken over the Southern Baptist Convention. In Baptist polity, each congregation is autonomous and thus able to affiliate with multiple local, state, and national associations. Thus, at least initially, congregations in the Alabama CBF continued to below local, state, and national Southern Baptist associations.
