Buddy Glasgow

James F. "Buddy" Glasgow (born c. 1938 in Shelby County – died February 5, 2010) was Sheriff of Shelby County from 1978 to 1990 and Chief of the Calera Police Department from 1991 to 1998.

Glasgow joined the Alabaster Police Department in 1967 and moved to the Sheriff's department in 1972. He resigned briefly, but returned as chief deputy to Sheriff Red Walker. He resigned again in a dispute with Walker and ran for Sheriff himself, winning the job. He was re-elected twice before losing in 1990 to his own chief deputy, James Jones.

He was hired as Police Chief in Calera the following year, joining his wife, Lemoyne, who was City Clerk. They both retired in 1998. Glasgow died in 2010 and is buried at Shelby Memorial Gardens.
