Armstrong bought the three-story building in 1979 to use as her studio space. In 1982, Armstrong began to lease individual studio spaces to local artists. The 21st Studio Gallery is a exhibition space on the second floor of the building that exhibits the work of the residents of the 21st Street Studios.

It is owned by Sara Garden Armstrong, who bought the building for her own studio in 1979. She began leasing space in the building to other local artists in 1982.

The 21st Studio Gallery is a exhibition space on the second floor of the building that exhibits work by the building's tenants. In 2016 Armstrong partnered with several other artists to open Ground Floor Contemporary art gallery.
