Allan Lowe

John Allan Lowe (born March 6, 1965) is the owner of the Lowe Insurance Agency and has served as Mayor of Columbiana since 2000.

Lowe, the son of Johnny and Jean Lowe, moved with them to a small farm in Shelby County in 1969. He attended Shelby Elementary School, Columbiana Middle School and Shelby County High School, graduating in 1983. He went on to earn a bachelor of science in accounting at Auburn University in 1988 while also serving in the Alabama Army National Guard, where he was trained as a quartermaster officer.

He married the former Scarlott Collins just before shipping out for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1990. They have two children, John and Caroline. Lowe opened his current insurance business in 1991.

Lowe was promoted to Major in 1999 and returned to active duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.

Lowe was first elected Mayor of Columbiana in 2000 and is currently serving his third term.

Lowe has served as president of the Columbiana Rotary Club and as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Columbiana. He is also a member of the Shelby Lodge No. 140, the Shelby County Cattleman's Association, the Friends of the Columbiana Library.
