This article is about the current high school. For the 20th century high school, see Bessemer High School.

Bessemer City High School is a high school in the Bessemer City Schools system, built to replace the former Jess Lanier High School at the Academy Drive exit from I-20/59. Completed in January 2010 the $50 million high school was funded largely by a bond fund supported by a 1¢ sales tax increase in Jefferson County pushed through by then Commission President Larry Langford.

The name of the school was chosen by a poll of Bessemer students and residents. It received 1,981 votes to 671 for "Marvel City High School" and 665 for "Bessemer Millennium High School". Four respondents wrote in "Jess Lanier High School".

In September 2021 a number of students staged a walkout in protest of unclear guidance regarding contact-tracing and isolation for persons testing positive for COVID-19.
