Billy Ray Brewton (born January 26, 1982 in Chattanooga, Tennessee) is a writer, critic, theater director and filmmaker.
Brewton grew up in Pisgah (Jackson County) and has been a cinephile since youth. He graduated from Pisgah High School in 2000 and from UAB in 2007 with a bachelor's in political science. He is employed as an I.T. technician at United Ability.
In 2005 Brewton and Drew Brown of Digital Motion Pictures partnered to begin producing their own films. Brewton founded the theater company Theatre Downtown in 2006. In 2009 he was made programming director for the Birmingham Shout gay and lesbian film festival.
Brewton authors a syndicated film criticism column and is interested in paranormal investigations.
