Boatright Companies
Boatright Companies is a group of five companies involved in railroad operations owned by Shane Boatright and based in Inverness. Boatright started his company right out of college by offering vegetation control to railroads. In 2007 Boatright purchased the St Mary's Railroad in Georgia, fulfilling one of Boatright's lifelong dreams.
In June 2008, Boatright purchased Montevallo-based Seaman Timber, a manufacturer of railroad crossties. Boatright had been a customer of Seaman Timber for 10 years.
In April 2009 the company announced plans to build a $25 million crosstie plant in Carbon Hill, adding to the former Seaman Timber plant in Wilton. That September, it announced it would be replacing the Wilton plant with a new $40 million plant in Clanton.
Boatright supports the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum in Calera by providing crossties and also donates to the Brierfield Volunteer Fire Department.
