The George Washington Carver Apartments are a blighted complex of two-story brick apartment buildings on the 6000 block of 1st Avenue North in Woodlawn. Before they were abandoned in 2006 the apartments housed tenants on Section 8 rent vouchers. Subsequently numerous fires have broken out in the buildings, most of which are suspected to have been caused by arson.
