A particular pass sounds fine to me to be named as a "gap", but calling a category "mountain gaps" sounds weird, like there was supposed to be a mountain there but God lost it before fitting it into place or something. Category name
- A recent repeat of an episode of A Way With Words has led to a revelation for me. I selected "mountain passes" as the category name because I thought it was the most generic term. Apparently I was wrong. I guess whatever Westerns I watched as a child influenced me, as it turns out "mountain gap" is actually more widely used, particularly here in the South.
