Charles is the son of O. B. and Frenchel (Mays) Crockrom of Shreveport. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in [[1979]] and earned a bachelor of arts in social science at [[Miles College]] in [[1973]]. He went on to complete a master's in guidance and counseling at [[Alabama State University]] in [[1978]].

Charles Crockrom Sr (born in Shreveport, Louisiana) is Vice-President of Alumni Affairs and Security for Miles College and a former chair of the Birmingham Racing Commission.

Charles is the son of O. B. and Frenchel (Mays) Crockrom of Shreveport. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1969 and earned a bachelor of arts in social science at Miles College in 1973. He went on to complete a master's in guidance and counseling at Alabama State University in 1978.

While still in high school, Crockrom was named vice-president of the NAACP's youth chapter and was active in demonstrations and pickets which advanced Civil Rights for African Americans in Shreveport. In Birmingham he served as an assistant to Mayor Richard Arrington before accepting his cabinet role at his alma mater.

He and his wife, Reverend A. LaVeartice "Vee" Cockrom have three children and three grandchildren.
