Charles D. Hart (born 1959 in Clay) is a veterinarian, owner of the Clay-Chalkville Animal Clinic, and the first Mayor of Clay.

Hart earned his veterinary degree in 1985 from Auburn University and then spent a year and a half at the Buckhead Animal Clinic in Atlanta, Georgia. He returned to Clay to open his own clinic in 1987.

Hart was elected as Clay's first mayor on Tuesday, July 11, 2000 with 82 percent of the vote. He was re-elected in 2004 with no opposition on the ballot.
