Fultondale Elmentary was previously located at 1500 [[Walker Chapel Road]].  Fultondale Mayor [[Jim Lowery]] proposed the city build the new school even before funds were freed from a court challenge. The funds were later released. Construction of the new school by [[Wyatt General Contractor]] took 11 months and cost $17 million. Students first began attending the new school on [[January 8]], [[2007]], after the winter break. The new school includes modern features such as a media center and cafetorium.
