Gary White (born December 30, 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida) has represented District 5 in the Jefferson County Commission for four terms since 1990. He served as President of the Commission from 1998-2002. He has previously served as a Representative in the Alabama Legislature (1983-90) and as a Homewood City Council-member (1980-83).

Born in Florida, White earned his Bachelor's in marketing from Florida State University. Since moving to Jefferson County he has operated restaurants in Homewood, Tarrant and Hoover.

On the Commission, White has led efforts to privatize county services as a money-saving venture. He claims that $6 million has been saved annually by leasing county-owned landfills to private operators. He has led the way toward restructuring the council into three-person committees, instituting a Citizen's Advisory Committee, and has supported the establishment of a County Manager position to take over day to day administrative tasks.
