Hewitt-Trussville Junior High

Hewitt-Trussville Junior High was a 500-student junior high in the Jefferson County School System that fed into Hewitt-Trussville High School. HTJH occupied four buildings adjacent to the Cahaba Village at 601 Parkway Drive in Trussville. The school carried both eighth and ninth grades.

Due to its close proximity to the Cahaba River, in 1999 a sinkhole began to form at the western end of the school. Its formation resulted in the initial demolition of the schools library and cafeteria. A temporary library and cafeteria were placed in a pair of portable classrooms located in the main driveway.

By fall 2001 the school was no longer in use as the ninth grade was moved to Hewitt-Trussville High School and the eighth grade was moved to Hewitt-Trussville Middle School. Currently the remaining structure is used as a police annex. Additionally, the baseball stadium on the eastern end of the grounds is also still in use.

Due to its closure in 2001 this was never a part of the Trussville School System founded in 2005.
