The dealership was acquired in 1999 by Gordie Stewart of Detroit, Michigan. He moved it to a 10-acre site at 2676 John Hawkins Parkway (Alabama State Highway 150) in 2002. He moved to Alabama to take over management himself in 2003. Between 2006 and 2018 the dealership held the title of Alabama's largest-volume new car dealer.

In June 2021 the Hudson Automotive Group of Charleston, South Carolina purchased the dealership property for $12.5 million.
