Innovate Alabama
Innovate Alabama, formally the Alabama Innovation Corporation, is a public-private partnership created in 2021 with a stated mission of "partnering with the private sector, state agencies, and state policymakers to develop and implement programs and policies that will lead to a more robust and inclusive economy for this state," with the goal of making Alabama "a hub for technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship."
The corporation is led by five public officials and six members of the private sector appointed by the governor
The establishment of the corporation was the subject of the Alabama Innovation Commission (AIC), which was convened by Governor Kay Ivey in 2020. The Commission, in turn, partnered with the Hoover Institution at Stanford University to engage college students to evaluate Alabama's existing conditions for business recruitment and incentives; economic development activities of public universities; and development of outdoor recreation as a means of attracting highly-skilled workers.
