The Jefferson Warrior Railroad (JEFW) was a 15-mile long terminal railroad owned by Walter Industries in the Birmingham District from 1985 to 2009. It was the successor of the private Mary Lee Railroad which opened in 1895 and operated more independently as a common carrier. In 2000 the company operated six locomotives and had 22 employees.
The Jefferson Warrior Railroad's main job was delivering coal to Sloss Industries and coke to U. S. Pipe, and then delivering cars carrying those company's finished products to an interchange yard located at F. L. Shuttlesworth Drive and 35th Avenue North in North Birmingham for delivery by interstate rail carriers Norfolk Southern and CSX.
In 2009 the railroad was sold to Watco Transportation Services and now operates as the Alabama Warrior Railway.
