The Kaleidoscope, or K-Scope, is the student newspaper for UAB. It was founded in 1967 by editor Patrick Cather. Assistant editor Melissa Hidle suggested the name of the publication. The first issue was dated October 26 of that year.
Since then, the paper has transitioned into a coordinated print and online news service. The current editor-in-chief is Haley Townsend.
