Lucy's on Thirty-one is a toy store located at 640 Montgomery Highway in Vestavia Hills City Center. Owner Tahara Evans opened the store in 2006. The "Lucy" in the name comes from a nickname Evans had when she was younger. She also now owns a black labrador retriever named Lucy.
History
Evans was working on the Vestavia Hills School Foundation Cookbook when she noticed a shopping survey on the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce web site. The top request was for a store similar to Smith's Variety. She spoke with her husband, Toner, about it in February 2006 and the store became a reality in October. The ribbon cutting and grand opening was held November 28, 2006 at 5:00 p.m.
