Maqbool A. Patel is the corporate information officer for CircleSource and the principal of the Birmingham Islamic Society's weekend Islamic school.

Patel earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical and computer engineering form the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India. He then came to the United States to earn his Ph.D in computer engineering at Drexel University.

He did post-graduate research on magnetic resonance imaging and taught on the faculty of the radiology department at the University of Minnesota, then worked as a lead designer for GE Medical Systems. After nine years with GE, during which he rose to director of engineering.

Patel moved to Birmingham to work as vice president of technology integration and director of platford engineering at Emageon. He joined CircleSource in March 2007. His wife, Tanveer Patel, is president and CEO of CircleSource. The Patels have two sons.
