The Mary Ann Cahalan statue is an 11-foot-tall marble monument to former Powell School teacher Mary Ann Cahalan. The statue was carved from white Talladega marble by sculptor Giuseppi Moretti and dedicated in 1908. It is inscribed "Erected by the People of Birmingham".
