Mike Hathorne

Mike Hathorne was princpal of Homewood High School before becoming a member of the Homewood Board of Education.

Hathorne grew up in Collins, Mississippi. He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and his Masters in Education from Livingston University (now the University of West Alabama). He eventually became principal of T.R. Miller High School in Bretwon, Alabama.

In 1988, Hathorne left Brewton to become assistant principal of Homewood High School, reporting to Principal Jack Farr. When Farr left for the Hoover School System in 1992, Hathorne was promoted to principal. He continued in that role until applying for and being hired as System Director for Support Services on the Homewood Board of Education in 1998. As of 2006, he still holds that position.
