Mountain Woods is a subdivision of Vestavia Hills and short-lived former municipality. Residents of the subdivision voted to incorporate as the Town of Mountain Woods in September 1965. After only three and a half months, they voted again, 100-8, to petition for annexation into Vestavia Hills. The annexation was approved by the Vestavia Hills City Council in early 1966.
