The Music Opportunity Program is a nonprofit education program in stringed instrument performance for grade school students. It was founded as a program of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, but moved to the Alabama School of Fine Arts when the orchestra went bankrupt in 1993. In 2008 the program announced that it would move to the new Phillips Academy at the former Phillips High School.
The Music Opportunity Program supports three performance groups, the Birmingham String Orchestra, Birmingham Prelude Strings, and the Alabama Youth Symphony. The executive director is Rita Salzburg.
