Oakworth Capital Bank is a boutique bank formed in September 2007 by former Regions Bank and First Commercial Bank executives. The bank, which is headquartered in the Southbridge Office Park in Homewood, expects to raise more than $35 million in start-up capital and to open for business in the 1st quarter of 2008. The bank's chairman is Sam Upchurch. The senior managing director is Scott Reed. John Norris is director of wealth management.

The bank will focus its efforts on wealthy clients who will do most of their banking online.
