Pasquale's Pizza & Pasta is a Hoover-based chain of Italian restaurants. The company currently operates 25 Pasquale's in seven states, with 6 locations in metro Birmingham.

History

Pasquale's Pizza was founded in 1953 in Cincinnatti, OH by Pasquale Gramaglia. It became the first chain pizza restaurant in the country. The company was sold in 1969 to Birmingham businessman Neal Andrews. Andrews took the 125-restuarant chain public and nearly doubled the chain's size to a high of 244 in 1977. Andrews sold the company to John Labatt Ltd. in 1986. That Canadian-based company sold 35 restaurants to Millard Deason in 1990. Deason sold the company, which had shrunk to 25 locations, to Dora native Wayne Sellers and a group of investors on August 8, 2006. Deason is currently CFO of the company.

Future Plans

Sellers, current CEO, and his partners plan on growing the company to a chain of 1,200 restaurants. The name is to be changed to Pasquale's Italian Cafe. Current locations will be renovated and franchisees will be sought starting in 2007. The new concept will also include a six-day work week, with the restaraunts being closed on Sundays.
