The Pelham Police Department serves Pelham, a city of 23,744 in Shelby County. Its headquarters building, which also houses the Pelham Municipal Court, is located at 32 Philip Davis Street. The 46,000 square foot building was designed by B Group Architecture.

The department supports three patrol shifts, each headed by a lieutenant with two sergeants. The patrol division includes specially trained officers for traffic, code enforcement, evidence processing, canine operations, school resource, training, bicycle patrols and tactical operations. The criminal investigations division is staffed by detectives who gather and analyze criminal intelligence and evidence, and provide support to regional task forces and federal agencies, including Compact 2020, the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force, and the U.S. Secret Service's Alabama Electronic Crimes Task Force. The department's communications and records division operates the city's 911 center, police dispatch and record keeping. The administrative services division includes accounting, human resources, community relations, court liaison services, equipment and uniform procurement, and facilities and technology maintenance, along with internal affairs investigations.

The Pelham Police Department sponsors Explorer Post 2600, a career-oriented program of the Boy Scouts of America.
