The Pettiford House was built around 1890 and was located at 614 16th Street North. Formerly a parsonage for the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, the third pastor of the church, Dr. William Pettiford acquired the house after he resigned to become the president of the Alabama Penny Savings Bank.
