Westmoreland, the Picadilly opened in January 1926 Its first presentation was Cecil B. DeMille's "The Road to Yesterday." Advance press indicated that the theatre would have "upholstered opera seats finished in red Spanish leather," plus modern projectors, a theatre pipe organ and a "double typhoon ventilation system."
