The Rev. Dr. Rodney Franklin is pastor of First Congregational Christian Church at 1024 Center Street North. He has led the historic African-American congregation since 1994. He holds his ministerial standing in the United Church of Christ (UCC) denomination.

A native of Chicago, Franklin obtained his Master of Divinity degree from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta. His first ministerial position after ordination was the associate pastorate of Mount Zion Congregational Church in Cleveland, Ohio.

While serving at First Congregational Christian, Franklin has organized an inter-church fellowship among congregations in the Smithfield neighborhood of west Birmingham. He has also served on committees at the regional and national levels of the UCC.

Franklin is married and lives in Birmingham.
