Ron McGuffie

'Ron McGuffie (born August 10, 1949 in Bessemer) is a dispatcher for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and the Democratic candidate for Sheriff in the 2006 election.

McGuffie graduated McAdory High School in 1967 and joined the Midfield Police Department three years later. He moved onto the Sheriff's Department in 1973 and worked through the ranks until resigning in 1989 to become a private investigator for a law firm and a laborer for a property investment company. He returned to the department as a dispatcher in 1996 and made an unsuccessful bid for the Democratic nomination for Sheriff in 2002.

In the 2006 primary, McGuffie faced Ron Blankenship, C. D. Horton and Hank McWhorter. He defeated Blankenship in the runoff by a margin of 2-1.
