The Southern League of Professional Baseball, (formerly Southern Association) is a AA professional baseball league which which now represents ten AA minor league baseball teams across the Southeast. The Birmingham Barons have been members of the league for most of the team's history. The Southern League is headquartered in Marietta, Georgia.

The league traces its history back to 1885 as one of any number of rival baseball leagues that emerged in the early days of the sport. The Southern Association first formed under that name in 1901 with the Birmingham Barons as one of its charter members. The Southern League was reformed in 1964 with members from the Southern Association and the South Atlantic League.

The Southern League was headquartered on Main Street in downtown Trussville from 1979 through 1994. The offices were moved to Marietta after then-league president and Trussville resident Jimmy Bragan retired.
