Steel City Pops is a gourmet popsicle stand operating from a storefront at 2821 Central Avenue in Homewood and from pushcarts around the Birmingham area. The company, founded in 2012, is owned by Jim Watkins. Paul Brown manages the vending carts.
Steel City offers more than 25 flavors of fruity and cream-based popsicles, made with fresh ingredients and inspired by Mexican "paletas". The business also sells bottled water, with all proceeds from water sales donated to NeverThirst.
