University Avenue is a short east-west street at Birmingham International Airport connecting Messer Airport Highway to Airline Drive. It also provides access to Greenwood Cemetery. The road was named for the defunct Payne University, to which it once led. The university was near what is now the southern end of secondary runway 18/36.

It is sometimes confused with University Boulevard, the major thoroughfare through UAB's southside campus.
