It was formerly located in the New South Center at 1900 Crestwood Boulevard in Irondale, with a branch office in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The firm was founded in 1953 by William Veenschoten, son of engineer, inventor and Northwestern Equipment Co. founder Vincent Veenschoten. Veenschoten & Company initially represented boiler products manufacturer Copes-Vulcan, which purchased Northwestern in 1955. The company soon added Fireye combustion controls to its portfolio.

Veenschoten & Company was formally incorporated in 1972. In December 1997 it was sold to Clyde Hunter and Ace Rickard.
