Verbena is an unincorporated community alongside U. S. Highway 31 and the CSX Railway in southeastern Chilton County on the outskirts of Clanton. It is named for the indigenous verbena wildflowers. The community was a popular resort for residents of Montgomery, particularly during outbreaks of yellow fever in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
