Vulcan Bowl

The Vulcan Bowl was a New Year's Day college football bowl game held beginning after the 1941 season at Legion Field. The game was created to determine the annual Negro College championship.

Vulcan Bowl IX

  • January 1, 1949: West Virginia State University declined a bid to compete in the Birmingham game. [1]

Vulcan Bowl VIII

  • January 1, 1948: Kentucky State defeated North Carolina A&T by a final score of 23-13.

Vulcan Bowl VII

  • January 1, 1947: Tennessee State defeated Louisville Municipal Louisville Municipal College by a final score of 32-0.

Vulcan Bowl VI

  • January 1, 1946:

  • January 1, 1945: Tuskegee University played Tennessee State University

Vulcan Bowl IV

  • January 1, 1944: Tuskegee University defeated Clark College by a final score of 12-7.

Vulcan Bowl III

  • January 1, 1943: Texas College defeated Tuskegee University by a final score of 13-10.
