Walon Smith is a singer/songwriter and bassist. He has been a member of The Bugs, Big Blonde, The Lolas, The Whompus Cats, The Woodpeckers, The Dirty Little Rock Band, and Daddy Longlegs. He has also recorded as a solo artist and led his own group, Walon and the Wilton Playboys. He owns his own recording studio and has worked frequently as a studio musician for Birmingham recording artists such as Will Kimbrough, Ed Reynolds and John P. Strohm.

In 2001 Phil and Walon, Smith's collaboration with Phil Proctor was nominated for "Best Country/Bluegrass" in the Birmingham Weeklys Birmingham Area Music Awards.
