William Henry Morris was the third Mayor of Birmingham. He was a member of the Morris Family that played a large roll in the creation of Birmingham. William was the brother of Shadrach (Shades) Morris who founded the original trading post that is now Birmingham.

W. H. Morris was born in 1817 in the city of Rome, Georgia to a very large family. Later in his life, he married Anna Neal.

When Morris moved to Geneva, Alabama, the pair had several children, but only one child remained in the state.
