Willie Maye, Jr

Willie James Maye, Jr (born c. 1937) is a retired Birmingham City Schools teacher and served three terms on the Birmingham Board of Education, District 3.

Maye earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Alabama A&M University in 1958. He returned to complete a master of education in school administration in 1971 and then completed a certification in school administration at UAB in 1975 while pursuing a doctorate.

Maye has worked as a football, baseball and basketball referee for the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the Alabama High School Athletic Association and the Georgia High School Athletic Association. He has also served as a trustee, teacher and male chorus director at Tabernacle Baptist Church.
