Regular Missionary Baptist Church was established in 1943 and formerly located in a 1945 building at 1205 Cahaba Street in East Birmingham. This site became part of W. C. Patton Park. The congregation moved to 868 44th Street North in Kingston and became known as St Matthew Missionary Baptist Church. It later disbanded.

Because of its role in the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights, the church was recognized as a "movement church" by the Birmingham Historical Society.
